Europe at my playground
Start date: Jun 17, 2014, End date: Oct 17, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our project "Europe at my playground" will last from 1st July until 31 August 2014. It involves 4 volunteers: two from France and two from Georgia. These volunteers will run 6-week workshops with youth from 12-16 years old. Space for organising workshops provided for us the Centre for Sustainable Development of Wroclaw’s Communities at the University of Wroclaw.Kids involved in those classes will be kids from empoverished districts of Wrocław, where they have limited access to non-formal education and spend their holiday's time without any organized classes. Our volunteers will be young people who are involved (in any way) in youth work, willing to face new challenges, gain new experiences and full of creative ideas. Within one-week prepraration with experienced trainers and youth workers volunteers will prepare author workshop plan, which they will realise during their service. We would like the classes to bring such topics as citizen's awareness, ecology and intercultural dialogue. The main idea of the project is to bring Europe to playground's of Wroclaw, to those who cannot access it by themselves. Through actions of our volunteer we also want to widen youth's perception of the world, fight against stereotypes and arouse their creative thinking. Through contact with new cultures and languages we want to offer the youth active holidays, motivate them to learn new languages and encourage to rediscover educational process. What is more, we want to promote the idea of European Voluntary Service and volunteering itself and we are hoping that one day some of the participating youth will decide to go abroad and help others. In our project we will use such methods as: teambuilding, team work, working on a movie, photography, picnic organization, workshops, sport games, contests. The effect of every two-week session will be picnic for family and friends of the participants, where they will have an opportunity to get familiar with culture, customs and food of volunteers' respective countries.
