Whilst people are dying for the European idea at the EU’s frontiers, no EU citizen should cease to contribute to the success of this immense project called “European Union”. The increasing economic approach of the EU member states is accompanied by the creation of a common European labour market. Todays and (even more) tomorrows jobholders should be able to speak at least two foreign languages in addition to their mother tongue and should be trained how to behave and respond in intercultural situations. Nowadays it is the school’s mission to prepare pupils for these challenges of the future. This aim can only be reached by providing European und multicultural learning environments; e.g. pupils learn languages und experience intercultural situations through personal contact with peers from other EU countries. That is why we aim to provide our school’s teaching staff with project management qualifications and intercultural competences that can be acquired within the frame of project management training activities und intercultural trainings. It seems particularly important to us that our teachers attend these trainings in an intercultural context that means with teachers from other EU member states. On that occasion, our teachers have the unique possibility to get to know intensively other potential project partners in order to plan school exchanges, e-twinning or job shadowing projects at a later date. What do we aim at?In the long term, we aim to improve continuously the intercultural competences und the project management qualifications of our teaching staff. The two delegated colleagues are naturally ready for training abroad. They speak sufficiently English and Spanish and are committed to spread and promote the European idea among their colleagues and our school’s students. The first step is to participate in the training activity “Project management for cross-cultural exchange projects”. How will we do it?The intercultural training activities will implement intercultural competences in the lessons. The improved project management skills will help to institutionalize European exchange projects.
