The local organizer is the University of Iasi. The main topics are: Applying new technologies in education, new learning and teaching methodologies, eLearning, eTwinning. There will be experts and participants from more than 20 countries, coming both from the research area and from the practical field. Lectures, workshops, Knowledge Cafes and panel discussions will take place. Our own experience in the media education will be presented to the other participants in a Knowledge Cafe and discussed with them. The participants´ school is a national partner of the educational network "EcoMedia-Europe". The participants are responsible for the media technology equipment of the school and for their colleagues' professional development. Insight in topical developments in the field of ICT will be given and is scrutinized. Fitting methods, contents and ideas for the individual school are taken up, multiplied by the teaching staff and applied in class. Affirmative experience gain their influence in the media education concept and the school programme. The kind of lessons hold today does not help on our students. Nowadays, the requirements our students have to meet are so diverse that we are certain, we have to reorientate our work more to self oriented learning and self competence. As we have more and more students with migration background and in our classes for non german native speakers we have a lot of children of different countries, we have to react to these new demands with new methods. This is why we as the teaching staff are interested in getting to know schools that could be a role model for our school. The "Institut Beatenberg" in Switzerland is one of them. The point is getting to know their concept applied in practice and to find out, how we could transfer their model to our school. We hope that the seminar could be a very concrete assistance for the development of our own concept. The participants are two teachers from the steering committee "school development". Activities: Visiting observer at the Beatenberg institute, Glutern, Switzerland, Project school of the OECD and participation in a two day workshop with the topic "Learning can also be different". Our target is changing our classes towards student centered learing in a learning environment that offers the possibility to gain expertise and self competence at the same time. We would like to live up to the expectations of our school slogan "learning for life" and achieve this with an adapted learing concept.
