Our project took place in Gijón/Xixón and intended to promote associativism, volunteering and the youth participation. The volunteers took part in every activity, service and initiative of our organization during their stay: European Information Service for the Youth, disclosing the Erasmus + Program, ¡Participa! - a project that promotes mediation in participation, the Health Group of our organization, Informal Groups of Conversation in German and English, trainings, Astragal Space... as well as the development of occasional activities (sessions about EVS, international day of non-smoking, supporting in the classes of german of Jovellanos Institute, in an official school of languages, supporting english classes in the Second Opportunities School, microvolunteering programs in other organizations) where they were invited to contribute with their own ideas. They also had time and opportunity to develop their initiatives and a personal project: "We all are Europe". This project lasted nine months and the activities took place in the Federation of Youth Associations of Gijón (Conseyu de Mocedá de Xixón - CMX). In October the two volunteers arrived to Asturias: a german boy and a greek girl, both eighteen years old, used to coexist with multicultural backgrounds, very optimistic and creative, enthusiastic and willing to work in team and to know our country. During the whole project we used a participative methodology; the volunteers gradually designed their own volunteering, and during it, through a non-formal process of education, they acquired some knowledge based on the development of their professional and personal autonomy. With this project we have been trying to cause an impact on our local community, with the help of the volunteers, to disclose the EVS and Erasmus +, and also to promote tolerance and multicultural spaces within young people, boosting their active participation in the construction of the European Union citizenship.
