FINISHED
In this project three young people from Turkey and Spain will live one year in Halle, Germany and support there a non-profit organisation. They will get to know sometthins about (life in) (Eastern)Germany and the work in a social organisation and in this connection especially about working with people at the margins of the German urban affluent society and carry their new perspective back home. This way regional common grounds as differences, the one Eurooe and civic engagement become alive.
The project aims therefore to (1) make (trans)cultural diversity and unity, the idea and reality of the one solidly united Europe and the civic engagement become alive fpr all stakeholders in the project and their environment and to sho the relevance of these issues, to (2) stimulate the persobal and organisational development of the volunteers as well es employees and target groups of the hosting organisation, especially through the development of key competences and (3) to give space for other needs and issues of the volunteers and hosting organisations.
Responsible for the implementation is Friedenskreis Halle e.V. as the coordinating organisation for international voluntary services in Halle and surrounding. This organisation frames their services as learning and peace services. This become visiblie in their vision and guide value and therefore as an integral part of th eproject aims.
The volunteer support (and thisway learn) the daily activities in their organisations and have the oppertunity in addition to that to bring in own ideas and offers. Besides that they take part in a language course develop and implement one to two own projects and engage in civil society in political peace or European issues.
All (learning)experiences will be reflected and noted by the pedagogical support of the hosting and sending organisations as well as Friedenskreis Halle e.V. and through EVS seminars.
The volunteer live in furnitured shared flats or with host families. They are accompanied be a peer mentor and Friedenskreis Halle e.V. provides further integration.
The project affects, as we hope, on the participants and projects partners and moreover in this environment on local as international level as wel on the short run as in form of longterm changes of structures and perspectives in direction of the above mentioned aims.
