The shortage of skilled workers is increasingly becoming a key factor for the competitiveness and innovative capacity of companies. Therefore, we offer motivated young people the chance to undergo vocational training at the Vocational Training Centre (“Berufsbildungswerk”) in Potsdam. We are specialized in the integration of young people with special needs in all aspects of education and qualification and, eventually the assimilation into the labour market.International experience is increasingly becoming an important criterion for employers in the recruitment process. Therefore, a mobility programme should be a significant part of vocational training. An internship abroad broadens the horizon of trainees, increases intercultural understanding and offers the possibility to get to know foreign cultures. It is also valuable for attaining important soft skills such as adaptability, initiative, independence, increased mobility and offers the opportunity to learn foreign languages. The proposed project is part of the core curriculum and is specifically aimed at acquiring additional qualifications. It includes getting to know the occupational area under specific aspects of Italian culture, life and work. The ten trainees are young people with various disabilities and take part in a dual training system at our school. They are training to become media designers for digital and print and also office workers in healthcare.Within a period of 3 weeks the trainees will operate in different work areas and companies in Italy. There, they have the opportunity to widen their professional skills in an unfamiliar labour market. Despite their disabilities and special characteristics, we encourage equal access to international projects which leads to a recognition of their own personality and allows them to gather a wealth of positive experiences that will stabilize them for their future employment.Based on its excellent international projects, Euro Cultura is a partner who is extremely suitable for the needs of our apprentices. Due to their disabilities, the apprentices require special assistance and support. By stabilizing their previous and newly acquired experiences gathered abroad and which were accompanied by structured educational processes, we expect knowledge growth and better integration of our apprentices into the primary labour market. Beyond that, they will benefit from the internship abroad during their everyday work. For our organization and for our employees, this mobility project represents an added-value. In future, various international aspects of employment and job contents will flow into our everyday work.
