The project The COLOURFUL WORLD OF EUROPEAN IDENTITIES is run by Gimnazjum nr 1 in Zielona Góra. It focuses on the language development and methodology. It enhances a greater understanding of cultural differences, similarities, promotes the European identity, citizenship. The realization of the project started in October 2015 and will be undertaken during and after the project. It will raise the quality of teaching/learning on high European standards.OBJECTIVES: high quality professional development through taking part in courses abroad,raise teaching/learning effectiveness in using IT tools including collaboration with European partners (eTwinning platform, Skype, digital camera, video camera),search for a foreign partner to carry our project and competitions within the school, in future apply for mobility funding,develop students’ social and language competences, European cultural awareness, let the students experience cooperative learning (eTwinning platform, exchange).PARTICIPANTS: In the project there are 5 teachers from Gimnazjum nr 1. Four English teachers and one teacher of school club-room. The teachers of English language carry various activities aiming at cultural and language development, they take part in different local and online courses, webinars. Most of the teachers have an experience in eTwinning exchange. The school cooperates with AIESEC a global youth network organization. The teachers promote language during European Day of Languages. The project coordinator teaches French in after school club. The club-room teacher is a person who has an experience in an exchange with German school. The club-room is a cultural and educational centre of school community.DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES:the teachers will take part in courses in different parts of Europe (England, Ireland, Malta) to achieve their professional and the project needs and goals,after undertaking the courses the teaches will carry teachers training sessions to other staff of the school, they will share their materials, IT tools and methodology to encourage international cooperation. They will promote multicultural diversity, European citizenship through The European Bank of Ideas (it will support Social and Cultural Educational Program),the teachers will promote Erasmus+ during the teachers’ meeting in local institutions (ODN) and schools from Zielona Góra. Our publications will appear in local and national media,there will be workshops about UK, Ireland, Malta,they will organise the competition ‘British and American Culture’ for primary schools from Zielona Góra,there will be a trip to London and Oxford,the European Discussion Club will stimulate students’ interests,Erasmus+ website will be created to follow the progress and the results of the Project on every step,there will be: Dictation with native speaker (via Skype), Calligraphy Competition, English Song Competition, Reading Competition, British Culture Competition.RESULTS:Teachers will learn about modern methodologies, IT tools, they will have more creative approach to teaching/learning,the school will achieve better exam results in GCSE exams,students will develop language skills, enrich cooperative learning motivation,it will raise European identity across the whole school community (students exchange, eTwinning projects, job-shadowing),it will promote school in local and international community.LONG TERM RESULTS:the project will influence teaching and learning effectiveness of the whole school community. IT tools will be used by all teachers while international exchange,class teachers will be provided with extra resources to assure better European citizenship education,the students will be open, more tolerant to different cultures and involved in various European projects,the Project will encourage students and school staff to undertake projects on national and international level.
