PROJECT
FINISHED
The Project aims at enhancing school functioning quality. It is focused on supplementing educational offer which makes the institute more attractive and approachable while compared to others of the same type situated around Ursynów. The educational offer indicates the establishment of classes with extended number of particular subjects, this is: foreign languages class, European class, ICt class, Maths class, Art class. Apart from that, we also offer extra lessons on ICT, foreign languages, museum education and educational trips for our students. The courses are supposed to endow the teachers in achieving those goals.. We have already introduced the elements of bilingual teaching but we are planning to set up classes implementing bilingual curriculum. More than that, we are going to increase the importance of modern technology use, which affects in stimulating students to access content in new and often exciting way. Acquiring information with the use of modern technology advances students’ development and expanses their knowledge. Technology is an increasingly important aspect of modern school life and dramatically changes the way students go about their daily activities. Practically, students can work much faster and boost their imagination and creativity
The courses abroad are about to complement the knowledge and skills that our teachers have already acquired while taking part in stationary courses and trainings. We have developed the criteria used in selecting teachers. These are people who will brace themselves for every schooling mobility, these are people eager to work hard, knowing at least one foreign language and being able to use it communicatively, possessing experience in sharing their knowledge and background (they have conducted demonstration lessons, have invited colleagues to their lessons and have posted lesson plans or teaching tips online). Moreover, the coordinator of the project has attended individual trainings. So far, we have taken part in international cooperation programmes. The last one lasted over the years 2012-2014. The teachers recounted their experiences and reflexions and shared them with others by uploading them to : European Shared Treasure: http://www.europeansharedtreasure.eu/detail.php?id_project_base=2012-1-RO1-COM06-22372. Or on the website: https://sites.google.com/site/bridgeovertimesandculture/home. The participation in the project is freewill, thus the teachers discharge their duties and responsibilities willingly.
We are interested in courses in various subject areas, such as modern technologies in teaching, multiculturalism and shaping key competences for lifelong learning. Going abroad and taking part in training sessions is a great opportunity for the teachers to acquire new knowledge, as it is crucial for teachers to be lifelong learners and never stop discovering new information and improving their own selves. These are not only learners, but also teachers who work on their key competences. They upgrade it during the whole process of arrangement the course, by evaluating their actions, taking into account the knowledge they gained and the skills they can bring to a job. The courses have been arranged in a way teachers participate in them individually, which requires more effort in arrangement than it happens with group mobility , but gives them an opportunity to make a good use of multicultural aspect of the course, to make new connections with teachers from other European countries , earning new experiences and improving organisational readiness.
The teachers differ in every particular, they teach different subjects, their age differs, they have different experiences and have worked at school for different number of years. But what they all have in common is the need to acquire new teaching skill throughout their life, the need to enhance foreign language accuracy and fluency and the willingness to work hard and collaborate. Their work is not only covering a lot of ground at the lessons, but also being a good role model to their students, being a person the learner could look up to. Hence, it is their role to expand students’ world view.
Our teachers are highly motivated and encouraged by the headmaster who is focused on valuable human assets, this is their knowledge and skills, which result is more effective teaching. As a result the school ‘s educational offer is richer and more interesting in competitive market. We are hoping that making global connections with the teachers from around Europe will result in international collaboration. As a part o f this particular project, we are going to implement etwinning. The teachers who are involved in the project teach English, Polish, ICT, Maths and there is a librarian interested as well. An assumed number of participants is ten.
The consequent objective is subsequent collaboration, which could bring about our involvement in Job shadowing program in the future. Our efforts aim to develop the school.
