Euro-learning for Social-and Health Care Students
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project supports ET2020 objectives concerning development of language learning, linguistic diversity and intercultural understanding and skills. One of the objectives of SOSU FVH´s defined strategy for internationalization is "Promoting quality in the education and build students' international skills, language skills and cultural understanding of Danish values and practices." The project's planned objectives and expected effect are to increase students' interdisciplinary skills and employability nationally and transnationally. An expected effect from the mobilities is increased retention and increased interest in applying for the Social and Health Care Educations. The students get the opportunity to compare the work and theoretical content transnationally. On a personal level, the students´patience will be challenged when they are trainees in the host country. Students are encouraged by the mobility to improve their foreign language as well. The Social and Health educations are part of the dual system meaning that students acquire theoretical knowledge at the school, and put theory in to practice in the field. With this combination of theory and practice, students acquire skills for the labor market that they will be a part of after graduating. An internship abroad adds an additional competence in a different pedagogical approach. This may have a positive effect on the international labor market, and may have positive implications for the prevention of youth unemployment. The focus of the project is to create opportunities for mobility abroad for Social and Health Care students on equal terms with the Social and Health Care Assistent- and Child Care Assistent students. The project covers 20 Social- and Health Care Students in parts of their Internship 2-period. Students are selected based on a defined selection procedure. The main activities will be based on a catalog of learning outcomes. The responsibilities of the parties are clearly defined; SOSU FVH is responsible for finances, insurance, travel, support to the student before-during and after the internships, administrative activities and evaluation. The Finnish partner is responsible for diet / lodging, internship arrangements, introduction to the practical training, monitoring, evaluation and support to the student through a regular contact. The Danish and Finnish coordinators are in contact with each other once a week. Both schools are also focusing on Internationalization-at-Home(IAH). IAH refers, at SOSU FVH, to all activities that help students gain an international perspective in their education, individual subject areas or of the entire profession. The school wishes with the project to strengthen its reputation as an institution that emphasizes internationalization highly and hereby increase the possibility of retention, generate interest in the educations for the recruitment of future students and increase the possibility of labor mobility in Europe. As a result of the implemented VET-reform which places greater demands on student skills, the school has an expectation that mobility for Social- and Health Care students will become more and more sought after due to the fact that students and potential students will have better qualifications and have a more open approach to the international field and labor market. The procedure for selecting students and the suitability of the work places will be assessed after each mobility for adjustment purposes. In the longer term the school wish to create interest for Social- and Health Care mobility in the municipalities in Region Midt, which the school colaborates with.
