EURO-INF SPREAD Dissemination and Exploitation of a European System for Accreditation of Informatics Education
Start date: Nov 1, 2009,

The main reason for submitting the Euro-Inf Spread project and its ultimate challenge is the development of a European-wide system of quality assurance of informatics programmes. The project builds on the highly successful outcome of the previous European-Informatics project, in the framework of which learning outcomes, competence profiles and a qualification framework were agreed by practically all major stakeholders in European informatics education. A further outcome was the creation of the all-inclusive European Network for the Accreditation of Informatics Education EQANIE which is also part of this project, and which is one of the prime agents to foster academic as well as professional mobility in the EHEa. The Euro-Inf Spread project will further refine the European Framework Standards for Informatics, thereby following the BFUG proposal for the development of subject-specific descriptors of learning outcomes, in disseminating them through EQANIE. The Framework Standards will be a blueprint for designing informatics study programmes inline with subject-specific as well as institutional quality assurance criteria in line with the Bologna process. The first Euro-Inf Quality Labels will be awarded as a result of successful pilot accreditations. To ensure maximum impact and sustainability of the results, the partners will produce a of proposal how the benefits Euro-Inf could be transferred to continuous education. The overall impact will be an increasing understanding and commitment to quality assurance in informatics education as well as an increasing transnational comparability and compatibility of qualifications.
