EU jewelry from beads - from traditional costume to the market

The BEADED jEUwelry project collects the experiences and best practices in folk jewelry beading education with involving partner institutions from Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Czech Republic. The aim of the project is providing best practice and model approaches which can form a link between craft production, cultural heritage and economical growth. The project is targeted to develop the methodology of folk jewelry beading in the fields of vocational education (90 h theory and practice, manual of patterns and schema with IT designer programme). During 6 international meetings and local pilot trainings in each partner country the common methodology with country-specific moduls and IT designer programme for drawing beading schemas are shaped and improvedFurthermore, the project also focuses on shaping the qualification system in the area of traditional crafts and skills, and start to create a referential framework for a new profession of a traditional beaded jewelry maker.Finally, with the help of contemporary design, the project wishes to assist in revitalisation of traditional jewelry to find its new market value and make it more widely available through appropriate galleries, shops and online markets. Partner from market tested the best ways for selling and putting on market redesigned traditional jewelry, for which great interest is shown.During the project, travel exibitions that were organized in each partner country, together with final Fashion show „Tradition meets modern in beaded jewelry“ demonstrated reach heritage of traditional beaded jewelry and glass beads production, the same as great potential for its contemporary use – with different forms of redesign and possibilities for its placement on market.
