Recently the Republic of Moldova has made important first steps towards joining the EU community. It has been working on developing a well-defined state strategy to adapt to the EU standards and to meet the requirements of the EU. It still faces strong challenges in turning plans into real results. To some extent, this is the consequence of insufficient knowledge, understanding and awareness of the role of EU institutions, principles and policies. Partially this comes from non-relevant or inadequate education in EU related areas. The above mentioned arguments make the current proposal for Jean Monnet EU Economy Module, under the project proposal “EU Economy Issues and relations between EU and Republic of Moldova/EUREM” more than crucial for the IER department as well as for the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova.To harness in the most efficient way the present project proposal, several activities are planned to be organised: delivering (teaching) the module course; spring schools for students coming from the universities that have a specialization other than economic and other interested parties (academic staff, civil society and general public); promotional events, workshops, roundtable debates and conference on EU economy issues and relations between EU and R. of Moldova; creating and continuously up-dating open education resources; research in the EU subjects.The above mentioned activities aim to: provide comprehensive, up to date and objective information on EU institutions and common policies; rise the awareness about the possible impact of European integration upon the member countries, partner countries and global community; create and constantly improve analytical, research and teaching potential in the sphere of EU integration; transform the AESM into one of the leading centers of EU-oriented education and research; disseminate information on EU integration via successfully delivered course, a special website aas well as well-organized events.
