FINISHED
The High School “IES JULIAN ZARCO” gives several types of education studies: Compulsory Educational Studies, Non-compulsory Educational Studies and preparation for A Levels Examinations. Moreover, we give several types of Vocational Studies both in Computing and Administration and Finance fields (Basic to Superior Levels). We belong to a European Section in the French language and these years, we have just started a bilingual European project in English too. Since 2006, we have taken part in some European projects such as Comenius, Leonardo, Erasmus+ K2 and we have organized several European exchanges and multicultural activities with some European Schools. Our main aim is to promote the linguistic diversity and to share the multicultural awareness with our students and our staff alike.
Despite being one of the schools which takes into account the importance of the participation in international projects and which is trying to introduce a multilingual education system, we must deal with the lack of qualified staff that has the linguistic requirements that the Educational Administration demands to be able to teach all the Non-Linguistic Subjects in a foreign language.
These are some of the main reasons why we have decided to carry out this project to improve the linguistic skills of our teachers in several educational fields. Moreover, we firmly believe that it’s a great opportunity to transfer knowledge and practice among the Educational Organizations from several countries.
This Project is aimed at max 20 Secondary Education and Vocational Training teachers who are working in Bilingual Sections or Multilingual European Projects, or at those teachers who are taking part in Comenius, Leonardo or Erasmus+ projects. Teachers who deal with students’ exchanges and who are organizing Cooperative Projects with other foreign schools are also included in the project.
The main aims of our project are:
•To improve the linguistic skills in our staff.
•To promote teachers mobility
•To improve the learning and teaching process in a foreign language.
•To promote the linguistic diversity and to raise multicultural awareness
•To create new partnerships with other schools
We will be using an active and participative methodology where the use of New Technology Tools will be essential.
Among all the activities that we propose to do, we will mention two types:
•Organized Learning-Courses in other foreign countries.
•Periods of Job Shadowing in other European Schools or Training Centres.
Throughout the development of these activities, we want to accomplish the following goals:
1)An improvement in the linguistic and professional skills of our staff.
2)A better ability to change the organizing system and the international projection of our school.
3)An improvement in the quality of the working conditions and in our students’ activities.
4)An increase in motivation and an improvement in the level of satisfaction of our daily work.
5)Understanding of other foreign countries education systems.
6)A better understanding of the social, linguistic and cultural diversity
Moreover, our students will also get several benefits from the project:
•Students Mobility. Our students will be able to complete their knowledge in other European countries to broaden their training and their working prospective to other places, apart from their local area.
•An improvement of our students’ results and better qualifications by increasing their motivation and their autonomous way of learning.
Here there are the results that our school hopes to get:
a)Improvement in the managerial skills and international strategies.
b)Enhancing the overall standard of education and training on offer in our school
c)Better qualified staff.
d)Creation of a more professional, modern and dynamic environment committed to the society.
We consider that the Project development will help to the improvement of the linguistic competence both in the teachers and in the students.
Throughout the development of our project, cooperation and the transnational dimension of our staff will be enhanced and it will cause the following effects:
•An important increase both in the motivation and in the professional qualification of the staff.
•Implementation and creation of new tools and teaching methods. This will help our students to improve the level of their qualifications and so their employability.
Participation of other teachers and qualified staff in these projects, encouraging the teaching community to study other languages and having a look to the possibility to move to other European countries.
Thanks to this project, we want to start a Cooperative Relationship with other organizations and we hope to create some common aims that allow us to carry out new international projects in the future. This is the best way to improve our school good reputation in the long term and to become an important benchmark for the Educational System in the area.
