Estia-Earth aims to develop new educational structures, friendly to women, by introducing joint multidisciplinary postgraduate curricula in partner universities, involving Engineering, Computers and Sciences, and will: - develop a new framework for professional development of women, leading to courses at postgraduate level and further promote the mobility of women academic staff and students through Erasmus Mundus and other collaborative actions. - promote excellence of women in professions of Engineering-Computers-Sciences. - recognize the key role to be played by Europe in support of new generation of women scientists. - contribute to diminish the brain drain process to educated European people, involved in working positions in third countries- continue to further deepen and concentrate the existent Estia-Net thematic network that has been selected, as a project-model of good practices in the first 27 European projects.ESTIA-Earth will target young women as students deciding their future education and career, women executives who need postgraduate education on new sciences and technologies, women professionals and women immigrants, graduated from universities, who restart in new jobs after interrupts because of family needs, or business reengineering, or mobility of population. The main topics will include:1. A specialized M.Sc Program in the topics of interest of the Research and Industry in Engineering in the partner countries. Representatives from Academia and experts from Industry can teach in local language and English. The specialized M.Sc program, in the partner countries, must include: mandatory classes of English plus local languages and also Ethics & European Union; topics of engineering environment and renewable sources of energy - wind and solar and their friendly use for women. Other optional courses of interest to women (i.e. emerging new disciplines such as life&health engineering). The specialized M.Sc program should be learning intensive and with open and distance character. 2. Two expert meetings for 10-12 persons must be scheduled to address the specific issues of Curriculum in Specialized MSc Programs. 3. Development of handbook of MSc Program and teaching material. Development of assessment and recognition procedure 4. The Web portal to: a) provide inter-partner communication, b) provide a central point of information and c) operate as an information system for perspective students regarding the courses, where the Universities and Faculty offering fellowships or having positions open will list their openings, so all applicants can look in one www site to start and then look further for specifics.5. One International Conference on Interdisciplinarity in Education per year and two-three international workshops per year, all dedicated to specific topics such as: Environment & Renewables, Life & Health engineering, Brain drain, European Ethics & Citizenship & Integration.6. External evaluation, scientific advising and external review procedures. 7. Dissemination by presentations and publications in volumes of Proceedings. The envisaged impact will be the introduction in partner universities of the new structure as postgraduate education for women. The long term forecast is: will diminish the brain-drain of the educated people, mainly women, involved in the process of immigration, mobility and globalization.
