Erweiterung der landeskundlichen und methodischen Kenntnisse der Lehrkräfte in den lebenden Fremdsprachen
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The motivation of our school for participating in the Erasmus+ program is the detected need to increase the knowledge about new methods in language teaching, as well as the knowledge about the English speaking countries. The aim is to broaden the knowledge about the culture of these countries beyond stereotypes and to gain a deeper understanding of the people and their way of life (various aspects of culture, ranging from art to everyday practices). For this purpose we plan to send two teachers to the UK to take part in in-service training. Both of them have become active on their own to enable our school to take part in the Erasmus+ programme and will also organise everything necessary for their journey. The general idea is to increase the participants' motivation and knowledge by giving them the opportunity to experience a great variety of communicative situations, which is only possible in a native speaking environment. Furthermore, they are going to acquire the necessary classroom techniques in specific in-service training in order to be able to convey the new understanding to their students. Moreover, the attended courses will be a good occasion for the participants to exchange experience with teachers from other European countries and reflect upon their own teaching. The courses are also a platform to make new contacts, which may lead to future exchange projects. The ultimate goal is to enhance the quality of English teaching at our school by offering an increased amount of background knowledge and up-to-date expertise in active methodology. Exchange within our school will help to ensure an effect on all second language teachers.
