Physiotherapieschule Rhein-Kolleg, a state-accredited school of physiotherapy, provides a number of students engaged in initial training as professional physiotherapists the opportunity to gain experience in Italy as part of the Erasmus+ programme. In Germany, career training in this field is regulated by the state, lasts three years and concludes with a state examination. As part of their training, all students ere required to gain practical experience in appropriate hospitals, working in the various field of the medicine.This project makes it possible to fulfil this requirement, in co-operation with two academic teaching hospitals, at Sapienza University of Rome and Sabina Universitas Rieti. Beginning in the second year of their training, all students who qualify may participate in this project. Under the suoervision of Italian colleagues and the instructors and mentors involved in the project, these students acquire new point of view that deepen their experience and knowledge. All students have an opportunity to further develop or improve upon their language skills in the context their experience in contact with Italian patients and colleagues. Beyond own practical experiences. The long-term benefits can be seen in improved teamwork skills, greater patience and tolerance toward others,and a marked extension of expertise in the various areas of physiotherapy. This study helps all participants assert themselves mor effictively, even in unaccistomed situations.
