Project ECHO delves into the literary heritage of Tartu and explores opportunities to make this better accessible to young persons from different backgrounds. To this extent, one volunteer will be working with the team of Studio Tartuensis to extend ongoing projects and engage new young audiences. The activities will take the form of workshops, discussions, literary events, group visits and other forms of collaborations between the volunteer and other young persons like students, local volunteers, interns and trainees. Participants to this project will gain valuable cultural insights into the unending ways in which literature can describe a city, and how that city can in turn be influenced by the written words. This experience will increase the participants understanding of the role of culture, which will in turn lead to more positive attitudes toward different cultural phenomena and ultimately an increasingly tolerant attitude toward cultural differences. By way of being a key figure in planning and implementing the activities of the project, the volunteer herself will not only gain all the same cultural and philosophical insights as other participants, but also develop key competences related to cultural management and active attitudes, that will over the course of the project help her to become more productive and will be relevant for her in her future workplace.
