This project aims to develop a collective voluntary service, involving French and European volunteers, young persons from local communities, inhabitants and reintegrated employees. This group of persons will work together in order to highlight heritage conservation in Brittany.
Using building and natural heritage conservation as an educational support, we hope the participants will get interested by local communities and will be able to interact with them and compare with their own communities and history.
The 9 selected european volunteers will be interested in the project thematics : heritage, natural environment, European citizenship, social inclusion. They will be motivated to live an intercultural experience iand be part of an European team of volunteers and interacting with local communities and reintegrated employees. Our European partners for sending volunteers are situated in Germany, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Estonia and Turkey.
Activity 1 : Volunteers for cultural and built heritage – 6 EVS volunteers – 3 months
- Conservation work on ancient buildings : secure ruins of an old weaver village, restore moats of a XII century castle. Volunteers will be offered technical support for this specific tasks.
Develop relationship with local population using heritage conservation as a topic, organization of multicultural events, enhancement of European voluntary experience with schools, local population, young workers etc… As part of the cultural exchange, volunteers will take part to the cultural programs with local communities.
Activity 2 : Volunteers for nature conservation – 3 EVS volunteers - 4 months
Environmental work conservation : Assist in the development, preservation and maintenance of natural spaces in Broceliande forest (wet zone, hiking trails,…)
Scientific : biodiversity measurement with participatory sciences protocols, working with searchers and students of the Biological Station of Paimpont.
Education activities : Promote environmental awareness and enhancement of European voluntary experience in connection with the actors of the territory (schools, local inhabitants, visitors,etc). Participate to the organization of the Science Festival in October.
Our project management approach is based on communication, sharing and « do-together ». Our partnership are developing on a local and European scale to build together these projects aiming to highlight young people and local communities involvement.
Concerning impacts and results of this project, we hope this experience will be a step in the civil participation of young people at European level. We expect this project to inspire or develop a collective awareness for the conservation on natural and build heritage. Concerning the local communities on a local level, we really hope to expend this kind of initiative in the long run. This project contributes to the sustainable development of the territories, together with a larger social cohesion and life long learning.
