Entrepreneurship Education – Enabling Europe’s Students to Develop Entrepreneurial Mindsets
End date: Oct 1, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Following the European “Education and Training 2010 Work Program“ and the European Commission’s educational acts, the project promotes entrepreneurship as one of the key competences “necessary for lifelong learning in a modern knowledge-based society”. It thus adds to the pupils’ basic life skills development and will be useful in personal, social and professional aspects of future lives. To give students a good opportunity to access the project we start working with definitions of “entrepreneurs” and “entrepreneurship”. We discuss responsibilities of an entrepreneur, i.e. social, ethical, philosophical, sustainable and financial aspects according to the legal frame and the specific reality in their home country. Hence, the students get an insight into the increasing implementation of CSR in companies. With the help of regional companies, the students get to know different departments, legal matters, economic sectors, daily transactions, proceed to learn about the structure of international firms and the European market. Following “Learning by doing”, they get the chance to internalize their knowledge by founding their own company. They create real firms with international staff members from the partner schools and deal with the other companies as well as with the students as private consumers. They need to communicate and cooperate closely. Before establishing their company, they compare legal forms in the participating countries and choose the one that’s best for them. They take part in competitions and events, e.g. Europamarkt Hamburg, “Innovation Camp” etc. Moreover, we focus on the CLIL approach. As all the participating countries have different mother tongues, our working language is English. Students keep record of personal work input in work portfolios.
