PROJECT
FINISHED
Cursor Oy, a regional development company, Örebro Regional Development Council, Ida-Viru Enterprise Center and the City of Riga are the partners of this project. A low level of entrepreneurship characterizes the partner regions. General change in the attitude towards the entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs is needed. Also lack of knowledge seems to be one important factor for low entrepreneurship. The need for this cross-border project rised when people from the four regions learned that there are the same interest towards enterprising in each region. The contacts were born in previous enterprising education project (Oppimalla Yrittäjyyteen, ESF-project by Cursor). The current contact people met already in August 2007 and shared the vision, there is so much to learn from each other in this field and therefore we should plan an enterprising education project to promote cross-border practises in this field in Central Baltic area. The objective of the project is to improve the attitudes in society towards enterptising and therefore improve regional competitiveness. Enterprising is a dynamic and social process where individuals identify opportunities and make something out of them in order to transform ideas into practical and aim oriented activities within social, cultural or economical framework. This includes a more specific concept of training on how to create business (entrepreneurship) and a broader concept of education for enterprising attitudes to skills which involve developing certain personal qualities such as creativity, responsibility, curiosity etc. In this project we will offer the opportunity for the target groups to start this process. Good examples, best practices and experiences are needed from all four regions. Enterprising education leads to a better knowledge, more positive attitude towards enterprising and on the long run higher level of entrepreneurial activity in project regions. The main target groups are teachers, headmasters and student councellors. Other target groups are students, municipality leaders, politicians, parents and companies. The main activities are enterprising education training, networking electronically/personally (incl. study trips, exchange), systematic implementation, i.e. action plans/curriculums, start up packages for each participating school and dissemination by four international seminars, common website and other marketing materials. Achievements: The project improved the attitudes in society towards enterprising in Sweden, Estonia, Latvia and Finland. The project organised trainings for teachers in each partner country, as well as international seminars and study visits. The project established a network of teachers through which they share experiences, best practices, and reflect on their problems or successes. Additionally, the project improved existing action plans/curricula for participating schools and kindergartens, and developed materials to be used in their teaching.
