The project is divided into two activities implemented in different host organisations. Volunteers work with children and youth from
”dificult” background or people with intellectual disabilities. There are 9 volunteers who spend 12 months in Poland working in 3-city and surroundings. Volunteers come from: Spain, Germany, Portugal, Romania, Hungary, Republic of Macedonia, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus.
The aim of the project is to create a platform for intercultural dialogue, mutual understanding between youth and people with disabiities. The objective will be achieved through different activities organized by EVS volunteers for our proteges. These include sports, arts activities, help with learning English or other languages, help people with disabilities in daily activities. We are also open to their suggestions activity, especially related to their culture, art, traditional dances, food, games, etc. Thanks to this project our proteges have direct contact with different culture. Both sides can exchange information about each homelands, art, traditional food, languages etc. in order to get to know each other better.
As soon as volunteer arrives she/he starts adaptation, integration time with introduction to new environment and intensive Polish
course for first weeks. Afterwards continue the course once a week, if she/he wishes so. Second month she/he gets to know the rules of the workplace and employee of placement, so that step by step she/he is able to organize some activities in cooperation with the work coordinator. However we try to make her/him more independent and there is time, especially for volunteers to organize their own activities.
As a result of being EVS volunteer, they get new knowledge and skills - experience in working in a social area, knowledge about new culture, languages, food etc. Moreover, knowledge about doing different handmade artistic stuff. They also become more self confident, creative, communicative and develop their organizing skills etc.
