BackgroundErasmus Mundus programme provides support for high quality co-operation between European and Third Country higher education institutions. The objective of the programme is to increase visibility and attractiveness of the European higher education. Selection results of the Erasmus Mundus Action 1 and 2 (formerly known as External Cooperation Window) from 2004 to 2010 indicate that some EU countries are better represented in the programme then others. The gap between these is wide. Results also show that participation of Third Countries should be improved in Action 1. Objectives and summaryECCE MUNDUS project targets to enhance and facilitate co-operation in Erasmus Mundus between i) higher education institutions in Central European EU countries ii) Central Europe and other regions outside EU (Western Balkans, Eastern Europe, Central Asia) by organising joint training and contact seminars for selected universities from these regions. The project also aims to increase visibility of the programme in these regions among higher education institutions and students.ECCE MUNDUS consortium will organise three training- and contact seminars each year (Spring 2012, Fall 2012, Fall 2013) in Bratislava, Budapest and Vienna. 10 participants from HEIs will be invited from each country (AT, SK, HU) and 20 participants from targeted regions outside Europe. The participants from the target regions will be selected from HEIs preferably which i) have curriculum development projects; ii) already have existing joint programmes or planning to develop one iii) planning to establish co-operation with that region. The training and contact seminars will provide excellent opportunities for HEIs to gain detailed knowledge of Erasmus Mundus programme and targeted regions. Speakers/experts as National Tempus Offices, Quality Assurance Agencies, Bologna / Higher Education Experts and best practices will also be invited to contribute to achieving our objectives. With invited experts, the National Structures of Austria, of Slovakia and of Hungary will offer general introduction to the Erasmus Mundus programme and individual consultation and guidance for participants.Flyers for students, doctorates and employers, and an online searchable database on available Erasmus Mundus Master Courses and Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorates will also be prepared, published and disseminated in these regions to advertise and make the programme more visible among HEIs and students inside and outside Europe.
