For years ITIS "Cardano" in Pavia has committed to fostering educational innovation and the quality of teaching both in the field of the professional subjects of the various specializations, in the use of ICTs in the normal educational practices, and in the use of the L2 for studying, researching, innovating and teaching. This project, therefore, goes in the direction of expanding both the provision of training of students and to increase the language skills of teachers and non-teaching staff. Briefly, the objectives of the project are:
- Improving the language skills of teachers and staff;
- widening of cultural horizons of teachers and staff;
- acquisition of new tools for students and young people to spend in the labor market;
- expansion of professional skills of teachers and staff;
- changing in the teaching model;
- implementation of CLIL quality.
The participants in this project are eleven in total. They are non-language teachers who have made a commitment to teach a CLIL course next year and who have given their willingness to involve colleagues in their experiments by sharing what they have learned during the course provided in this project. Two teachers of English who wish to develop CLIL methodology. Two members of the secretarial staff and the school manager who finally decided to consolidate his competence in English language.
The participants have different language skills, and the activities they will attend will be mainly aimed at improving the language skills and for the two language teachers CLIL teaching and methodology.
This project will have a significant impact on the school situation. First of all the participants (teachers and staff ) will increase their competence in English. So after these activities, the staff will be able to manage communication in English within European projects and with various international partners. The CLIL teachers can teach with more confidence and competence from the methodological point of view.
