English in PracticeOne of the pedagogical principles in our School Educational Project is to develop a feeling of belonging to Europe through the participation of teachers and students in mobility and international cooperation activities in countries from the European Union. The main goal of our Mobility Project is to develop the school’s international projection as a pedagogical principle. The Linguistic Project focuses specially on improving the language and the multilingual skills of our students. We have already started to implement various educational activities, which would be enhanced by getting a KA1. It would help achieving one of the priorities of the PEC which is improving the students’ comprehension and expression in foreign languages through specific training of teachers directly involved in the project. The Annual General Programming Document for 2015-16 includes strategies, activities and actions to improve the academic results of the communicative competence in English in the ESO stage through the GEP and CLIL training activities. This will also improve the quality of teaching and their linguistic and professional skills.Since the socio-cultural environment of some of the students does not support the learning of a foreign language outside the school context, activities such as the introduction of CLIL methodology and the students exchanges in European countries provide this basic social competence. We would like to apply to a grant for 6 teachers to participate in a CLIL training course at the National University of Ireland (see http://cliledu.fi/wp/?p=322). The course is especially aimed to those teachers with a previous knowledge of CLIL methodology and who are currently implementing it in a non-language subject of the common curriculum (GEP 2015-2017 program, Grup Experimental per al Plurilinguisme). The Participants will gain insights into language and literacies across the curriculum, practical ideas to support students in academic language content, language for learning and language through learning, strategies to adapt CLIL methodologies in own practice and strengthened language and communication skills. The Project activities are scheduled, coordinated, organized, evaluated and spread by the Mobility Commission of our school. These activities include the development and the information of the project, the selection of the participants and the preparation prior the assistance to the course, the attendance to the course Language of, for and Through the CLIL during 4-9.7.2016 and 3-7.07.2017 in Galway (Ireland), the integration of the gained knowledge in the academic curriculum, dissemination and evaluation of the project results. The participants will promote in their educational practice the learning of foreign languages. This will encourage the students and the teachers to participate in activities of educational innovation such as the CLIL method or international cooperation projects and educational exchanges. The school website has a link to the mobility project web https://sites.google.com/site/internacionalxifra/. This web page contains the students and teachers mobility activities as well as all the information concerning these activities. The Quality Commission and the Mobility Commission design the evaluation tools and assure that the results of the project will reach all the educational stakeholders of this project.
