Content / background: In the researches made in Europe it has been discovered that there are 80 million disabled and this makes 15 % of the total population. In the work carried out in 2002 the rate of the disabled between 16-34 age is 38 % and the rate of the disabled without any income is 64%. In Europe 200 000 disabled continue with their lives in isolated way.
In our country according to the official records 1.536.306 people are disabled. 51 % of this is chronical diseases, 31.94 % is Mental, 21.14 % is orthopedics, 14.08 % is the visually impaired, 11.45 % is Spiritual and Emotional, 10.18 % is auditory, 2.57 % is those with linguistic and speech disorders. According to the survey, we have made locally, it has been determined that those who know haven’t taken any responsibilities at all.
Besides this, a survey has been developed for the social problems and according to the this survey, firstly the problems of the disabled have come out. For this reason the situation firstly focused is enabling the participants to be together with people with different disabilities and to find solutions to their problems. Getting interested in them and enabling them to observe and as a result of this trying to understand them by empathizing.
The objectives of our Project:
1- To raise awareness about the discrimination made against the disabled.
2- To teach the participants about the problems of the visually, auditory, speech and mentally disabled.
3- To increase the participation of the disabled in social activities.
4- To disseminate the good practices about the disabled.
5- To enable the participants to know the obstacle types.
6- To enable our participants to experience the feeling of being disabled through practices.
7- To produce solution suggestions for the problems of the disabled.
8- To increase the cooperation among the organizations working on the field of the disabled.
The number and the profile of the participants:
There are 7 countries and 37 participants. Some of our participants have participated in social assistance projects and have carried out activities together with the disabled. Besides this, in choosing the participants those with the potential of disseminating the project have been prioritized. The final beneficiaries of our project are disadvantaged people who are socially disabled. For this reason, at least one socially disadvantaged youngster will participate in the project.
The methodology to be used and the description of the Activity: Orientation activities, ice-breakers, games, brainstorm, interactive presentation, the method of learning by doing, discussion, group work, technical trip, observation, telling a story, question answer, refreshment, show, survey work.
Activities: The activities ofOrientation, Welcome party General information, Introduction of City, Me expectations and fears, Erasmus + presentation, Cultural nights, Disability in the world, Europe and Turkey, NGO fair, I can’t see, darkness, I can’t see, I can’t walk, I can’t speak, I’m mentally disabled, Dark Room application, Drama hour, project hour, Project evaluation hour, planning the future and reporting, Individual and group evaluation, General survey, delivering Youthpass.
Foreseen result and the short explanation of the impacts:
Awareness in the participants against the disabled about the discrimination will be raised, the participants will learn by experiencing the problems of the people with visual, auditory, speech and mental disabilities and will wish to produce solutions against these problems, the participation of the disabled in the social activities will increase, he good practices about the problems of the disabled will be disseminated, they will know the disability types and will be more conscious and informed, our participants will experience the feeling of being disabled and they will understand their problems better, solution recommendations will be produced and the cooperation among the disabled will increase. Besides the cultural amalgamation will realize with cultural activities and twam works, prejudices will be eliminated, there will be contribution to the objective of becoming only one society.
With the session in which the youth projects and Erasmus + will be told, their knowledge about the youth programs will increase, as a result of effective dissemination activities to be done by using posters, brochures, promotion materials, local media, facebook web sites, awareness will be raised about the discrimination made against the disabled in the local society and their problems.
Long term possible benefits:
Strong relations among the organizations will be established they will wish to carry out new projects by making a long term cooperation. The applications will be made by benefitting from the project drafts to be prepared.
