Our project is conducted in cooperation with our foundation Isparta Social Services Foundation Special Education and Rehabilitation Center, Isparta Educational Practice and Job Training Center and Sıdıka Doğruöz Special Education Job Training Center. Stephanus in Berlin and EUROPE FOR ALL in Italy are the host foundations of our project. Foundations participated in our project are non-profit organizations except one of them. 6 mentally challenged students from our foundation and 16 mentally challenged students from our local partners have participated our project. During the placement process of our project, 22 mentally challenged participants were accompanied by 11 teachers. Internship activities which were compatible with the teaching methods of special education, and took place considering participants’ characteristics lasted 2 weeks. Mentally challenged participants are aged 14 and older. The dates of internship activities of our project are: Social Services Foundation Special Education and Rehabilitation Center and Isparta Educational Practice: 26.04.2015 – 09.05.2015 Sıdıka Doğruöz Special Education Job Training Center: 25.01.2015 – 07.02.2015. With our project, 12 of our students with mental disabilities received training about bag manufacturing in Stephanus, and 10 of out students received training about shoe manufacturing in EUROPE FOR ALL. Both theoretical and practical trainings were provided simultaneously. Special education was carried out with errorless teaching methods. At the end of our project, 12 participants improved their vocational skills in bag manufacturing, and 10 participants increased their vocational skills in shoe manufacturing. Our participants have improved their vocational skills, basic skills, social skills, language skills, interaction skills with their peers, manual skills, self-care and personal care skills, travel skills and community living skills which are essential for them to be able to live independently and perform daily routines. Within our project, our mentally challenged participants had an opportunity to get closely acquainted with German and Italian cultures.
