Enabling Inclusion project is a long term EVS hosting project involving 6 volunteers from Spain (x2), Turkey, Germany, Georgia and Norway which will take place in Rome, Italy. Main themes of the project are disability and inclusion as Sezione Laziale della UILDM ONLUS works with and for people with neuromuscular diseases and physical disabilities.
The objectives of the project are to:
* raise awareness in the territory especially among young people and kids on diversity and inclusion;
* create different media tools that are inclusive and accessible for young people in general and for those with disabilities in particular;
* support people with disabilities (esp. young people) in the territory in their socialization, participation and autonomy;
* promote active citizenship and volunteering in local and international level.
The project foresees different activities including but not limited to;
- use of an interactive exhibition and group meetings on disability to promote diversity as a value and resource;
- create radio broadcasts, articles, blog and other media with association’s editorial staff on disability, inclusion, human rights and volunteering;
- organize individual or group events in the territory for people with disabilities to promote inclusion;
- organize workshops, laboratories; events on themes of volunteers’ interest.
All activities will be of non-formal character and supported by a structured mentoring process.
In the end of the project we will:
* organize at least 10 interventions in the territory with the exhibition and group intervention, reaching about 300 young people and kids;
* organize at least 24 radio broadcasts, 5 articles in quarterly magazine, 25 blog entries which will reach over 1000 indirect beneficiaries;
* organize at least 2 small one-to-one interventions per week in the territory with people with disabilities;
* 2 big events targeting young Italians to promote international volunteering and non-formal learning projects.
The project is going to improve social competences of young people with disabilities that we work with and will encourage them to take part in international non-formal learning projects as well and it will improve young EVS volunteers’ perception of disability as a form of diversity.
