Empowering Youth in Rural Areas

The general idea of the seminar “Empowering Youth in Rural Areas” (Georgia-Rustavi, 16-23 September, 2012) is to create a platform for youth workers, project managers and youth leaders working with youth in rural areas in Europe and Eastern Europe and Caucasus (EECA) in order to discuss challenges that young people currently face (especially when it comes to unemployment and development of competencies necessary for 21-st century job market) and to exchange good practice on how to empower/support young people in becoming more mobile, competitive in job market and more active citizens. The seminar would last for 6 days (excluding travel), include 30 participants from 15 different organizations from Programme countries (Latvia, Poland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Croatia, Romania) and Eastern Europe and Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus). During the seminar emphasis will be put on using the group as resource for sharing best practices and tools, nevertheless, also some theoretical input will be provided. Apart from typical non-formal education learning methods (group work, discussions, role-plays, simulations, etc.), to understand better the challenges of youth from rural areas within EECA region, during the project participants will also have the chance to meet with locals. The applicant and host of the project is association “Volunteers of Georgia”.
