The project Empowering Young Colombian through Leadership and Participation is aimed at improving the lives and future prospects of marginalised children in Bogota by offering them various educational and awareness raising activities. The EVS volunteer will provide the youngsters with leadership skills and encourage their active positive participation in the life of the local communities. She will work to improve their skills and knowledge of English thereby giving them better chances of future education and employment. The project is also aimed at increasing the knowledge of Europe and other parts of the world in the local communities thereby fostering intercultural understanding and tolerance. In addition, the EVS volunteer will provide organisational support to Nukanti's other ongoing projects, most of which encourage the children to discover and explore their creativity through activities involving arts and sports.The project activities are based on concrete needs of the local community and address existing problems for marginalised children in Bogota. It is aimed at creating a group of youth leaders trained in leadership skills, human rights, active citizenship, non-formal education and intercultural communication that will ensure the sustainable impact of the project.
