The project involved a total of 32 students (16 in each group). A group of children that mobility is conducted in Germany consisted of 16 students (boys), and 6 heating, 5 installers of home installations, 2 gas installers and plumbers 3 and 8 vocational teachers.The project involved four partner organizations. The applicant and sending organization was Škola za montažu instalacija i metalnih konstrukcija, Zagreb. Recipient organizations have been Kroatische Wirtschaftsvereinigung e. V. from Germany, Braga Mobility Open from Portugal and Europäisches Zentrum für Erneuerbare Energie from Austria.The project has been implemented in three phases: preparation, mobility and evaluation.Within the project there have been two main activities. The first activity has been mobility of VET learners in companies abroad in two flows. This activity included 32 students of four different installer occupations (installer of home installations, installer of heating and air-conditioning systems, installer of gas systems and installer of water systems (plumber). First flow of students has been in April 2016 in Portugal, and the second one as well April 2016 in Germany. The second activity has been mobility of staff. This activity, staff training abroad, included 8 teachers. In May 2016 they had training in Austria.Once the students and teachers returned from mobility they shared and transfered knowledge, skills and experience gained during their work-based learning and practice in Portugal and Germany as well as during their staff training in Austria onto other students and teachers of the School. They discussed and compared the tools, materials and technologies and organization and conduct of traineeships in Portugal and Germany to those in Croatia. They will discuss the project „Model Güssing“. Coordinator of the project conducted evaluation of all three project phases and created final project report. Project results have been/will be disseminated on local, regional, national and international levels.
During the mobility the students have mastered the techniques of installation of new cooling systems, the installation of the boiler and central heating systems, they assisted their mentors in repairing heating and cooling systems, assisted in the installation of systems with with hot and cold water, in the installation of new gas appliances, ventilation systems, underfloor heating and solar systems, assisted in joining of pipes for various heating and cooling systems, installing ventilation systems and drains / air inlets. Finally they gained new skills in the detection of faults and repair of complex ventilation systems. They were introduced to the activities and operations of inspection and testing of already embedded systems and pipelines using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, and other relevant methods, assembly of piping, cables, coils and other equipment according to specifications, welding, soldering, cementing or threading, the dimensions and types pipes and other related materials (support, hangers or hydraulic cylinders) to specifications, planning installing pipes, installation and repairs, installation of walls on the wall and connect with existing installations (radiators, tanks, etc.) using welding, connectors and related to equipment, cleaning and maintenance of piping systems, units and related machinery or equipment using manual or electric appliances, connecting of piping systems, assisting in maintenance and fault finding, installation of valves and automatic control units, installation of pipelines for alternative energy sources, inspection and determination of limits before installing the new systems, testing and troubleshooting of the complex systems. Students were introduced to student-master-teacher relations and the obligations and expectations of students during practical work, as well as the documentation that needs to be done during the apprenticeship. They were given an insight into the occupational safety regulations and responsibility of students for any damage done during the apprenticeship.
Teachers were introduced to the system of vocational education and training in the Austrian organization and with all aspects of the project "Model Güssing". They participated in a tour of demonstration plants that take biomass and / or solar energy and other renewable sources. In the plants they had a chance to see how persons educated in installation are included in the daily working activities. They were mada aware that the smooth operation of such plants requires knowledge from many different areas of expertise and including from installation. Installers in plants monitor and maintain multiple systems. Teachers were also familiarised with research activities of EEE-a and in which direction this area should be developed, as well as with the activities on linking research, high technology and the development of ecotourism.
