EMII A2 S1L2-Flow by flow EU-EGYPT BRIDGE BUILDING..
EMII A2 S1L2-Flow by flow EU-EGYPT BRIDGE BUILDING (FFEEBB)
Start date: Nov 30, 2010,
The overall aim of this proposal is to contribute to the sustainable development of Egypt in the field of Higher Education by using mobility flows to improve the career prospects of students and promoting intercultural understanding through institutional cooperation.
The development of teaching and learning will occur through the student mobilities. The great variety of thematic fields offered by this consortium will aid the mobility especially at the research level. This mobility (doctorate, post-doctorate, academic staff) will increase the quality of both partners involved as it is one of the bases to introduce innovative ideas in labs, share good practices, and learn the skills and up-to-date knowledge in the field. It is hoped that the returning students will be the Egyptian professors of the future and promulgate the ideas and experiences they have gained during their visits to the EU universities.
To address the management capacity of the Egyptian partners, the project has planned mobility activities for training the Egyptian academic and administrative staff toward better “University governance”. The academic staff mobility will engage professors who will be potential “Erasmus Mundus Coordinators” in the future. The administrative staff mobility will enable the Egyptian administrators to experience the EU university management systems. A system of mentoring will be introduced where senior Egyptian administration staff will be paired with an EU counterpart. This will allow them to better understand the EU management process and to take back to their institutions ideas that will improve their systems.
The project respects all the constraints laid down by the EM rules. Target Group 1 will be recruited from the Partner universities and will form the backbone of this proposal Target Group 2 will be reached through close collaboration with Associate partners, local media and partner university staff members. The FFEEBB consortium is very committed to doing justice to social equity and to set proactive measures to encourage vulnerable groups as well as socially and economically disadvantaged people. With our experience and knowledge in promotional campaigns and recruitment of Target Group 1 and 2, and with the expertise of the FFEEBB partners, associated partners, the Tempus office and the Ministry of Education, and through consultation with supportive organisations, we will explore the recruitment of Target Group 3 candidates. Applicants from Target Group 3 will be taken into special consideration upon the promotion and selection procedures and will receive special support by the consortium.
Extensive market research has been carried out on the Educational needs of Egypt. This in-depth research, at both the national and regional level, coupled with feedback from the partners suggested a focus to the choice of thematic areas. The result of this research was for the consortium to identify several “clusters” or “themes” needed at the regional and national levels. These are subject areas that directly lead to the labour market, entrepreneurship and innovation and soft skills. These clusters do not exclude other areas as certain Egyptian universities have special needs which are mirrored in EU partners and can be seen in Section B. The clusters will provide a focus for our marketing campaign which should result in an increased number of mobilities and more beneficial mobility flows.
In order to avoid any discrimination based on sex, racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation, the promotion of this proposal, communication with potential applicants, distribution of information and selection procedures will be carried out as clearly and transparently as possible.
