Main activity within the project ''Embodied Leadership'' was an intensive 9-days training course for youth workers, educators andmanagers of non-governmental organizations aiming to increase the competences for responsible, inspiring, empathic andeffective leadership practice. Concept of this training course was prepared basing on several years research of embodiedlearning approaches and methods as an effort to further explore possibilities of embodied learning and search innovativesolutions to social and environmental problems present in participants' communities. Development of new methodologies andsolutions contributed also to strengthening capabilities of the participants and their organizations.Training course took place in Latvian village Bernāti and involved 24 participants and experts from Macedonia, Croatia, Bulgaria,Estonia, Romania, Spain, Slovenia, France and Italy. This project addressed the need to increase collaboration and dialoguewithin and among different communities, as well as strengthen human resources of involved organizations and their abilities toengage and mobilize institutions and individuals for solving various challenges limiting growth of their communities.During the innovative training course participants gained more self-awareness and sense of belonging and connection to otherpeople and communities across Europe. Through experiential physical and intellectual exercises and group practices,participants explored the concept of leadership that connects body, mind and spirit in a way that serves their potential andpotential of the communities they are working in. Participants developed their capacity to communicate in compassionate andnon-violent manner, improved their creative thinking and problem solving abilities, learned to motivate and bring out the best inthemselves and people they are working with. As a result of the course participants are more prepared to face the challengesthat impact their communities, organizations and personal life. Participants learnt to deal with conflicts and stress, gained betterunderstanding of their needs and were able to improve some of their important relationships at work and private life.The training course has inspired also several local events and further cooperation among the participants to learn together andalso to create new learning opportunities for their target groups that are based on principles of embodied learning practices.
