The EMAS project aims to develop a training programme which will both stimulate and support implementation of the revised Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) which is considered to go beyond the most widely adopted ISO 14001 and is currently recommended under European regulation.A comprehensive partnership comprising twenty agencies from across Europe will develop a didactic training system to include six training modules, a series of training materials (based on case studies), appropriate support software and a dedicated project website. The prototype, in EN, will be piloted within municipalities in participating partner countries and following the evaluation of pilot results final versions of all products will be produced in printed, CD-Rom and on-line, supported by an final project report.Both ongoing developments and interim project results will be shared with partners and associates (local authorities, business organisations, training institutions and consultancies) via the project website and via regular mailings to the 1400 members of the Ecopolis network. End products/results will be promoted through attendance at conferences and exhibitions, through articles to relevant scientific journals and via a series of five national seminars to be held in ES, GR, IT, PT & PL.
