ELF AROUND! is a short-term EVS project taking place in Kokkolam Finland between 2.11.–15.12.2015. The aim is to gather young people with fewer opportunities to live and work together in a multicultural group for 7 weeks. The participants ( 2 / country) come from Austria, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Luxembourg, Sweden, Estonia, Hungary and Germany. The aim is to give young people who face challenges in their everyday life (unemployment, social or economical problems, educational difficulties) a chance to gain skills and experiences that will help them in the future. During the project we will learn not only new working methods, but also about the rules and expectations in working life and how to work together with different kind of people. During the project the volunteers will help to prepare Villa Elbas Christmas project. The volunteers will be introduced the history and secrets of Finnish elves and based on that the volunteers will help to plan and realize an elf path for children and families. The aim is that the volunteers would also be visible as the elves in different events organized in the town centre. Besides the work the group will do cultural visits, learn house holding tasks and to live together in a multicultural environment. The volunteers will be engouraged to try different kind of activities (sport, culture etc.) on their free time. The volunteers will be responsible for taking care of the house where they live and also to prepare meals. They will be supported by a social worker and support persons Each volunteer will have a personal mentor and we will organize both individual and group mentoring sessions on regular basis.
