The project E-VAL TESTSCAN builds upon innovative evaluative tools developed by the previously funded Leonardo projects CERN and E-VAL. CERN set out to provoke ideas in relation to research development and E-VAL built an electronic environment for putting these ideas into practice. Three evaluative project tools were developed under the CERN and E-VAL projects, namely Mentor; SPEAK (VET) and LUDOValuate. This project continues the work of CERN and E-VAL by testing these three tools in a variety of settings that take into account differences in evaluation cultures as well as differences between VET systems. The three tools will be tested on different stakeholders in the partner countries, ranging from adult students in isolated rural areas through to trainers. The project will focus on applying the three tools to marginalised social groups. Pilot testing will provide details about specific stakeholder needs in the context of local settings, which can be used to adapt the three tools. Stakeholder feedback about the 'success' of each tool will inform the development of product tools. Tools and accompanying guidelines will be translated in the languages of the project partners. The project will result in the development of area-specific versions of each of the three tools, as well as generic and stakeholder-specific guidelines for their application. Dissemination will actively engage all stakeholders involved in the project, including those who actually use the tools as well as policy-makers, programme managers and trainers. The E-VAL website will contain information on work-in-progress and results and project partners will target dissemination events in their own countries.
