EKOenergy is a network of 43 environmental organisations from 33 countries. We focus on the promotion of sustainable renewable electricity. EKOenergy is also the only international ecolabel for electricity. We started in 2013 Northern Europe and are now gradually expanding to other countries, in Europe and beyond. A lot of this progress happened thanks to the active participation of volunteers, in particular EVS volunteers based at the EKOenergy Secretariat. In the project 2015-1-FI01-KA105-008582, we focused on Italy, Spain and Portugal. We developed contacts with electricity suppliers, made contacts with environmental organisations and have been in contact with medium-sized and large electricity consumers. Under the project, we also invested time and energy to explore cooperation opportunities with stakeholders in Latin-America as well. This mainly included contacts with environmental NGOs in Chile, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia... We also had some contacts with people working in the electricity sector. Ana Baudot, the Spanish volunteer has been in charge of EKOenergy's facebook communication and Ginevra Poli, the Italian candidate has been in charge of our Instagram account. Both volunteers were active members of the EKOenergy team. During their stay, there were about 10 EVS volunteers at the team, 3 employees and some trainees. The volunteers engaged in several joint campaigns (e.g. one focusing on LEED buildings and one focusing on ecohotels). They also spent a lot of their freetime together, exploring Helsinki and other parts of Finland.
