EKOenergy for the UK
Start date: Jan 1, 2015, End date: Apr 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

EKOenergy is a network of environmental organisations promoting renewable electricity. EKOenergy is also the name of the only international ecolabel for electricity. EKOenergy started in 2013, and from start, volunteers, and in particular EVS volunteers, have played an important role in its development. The volunteers are important contact persons between the EKOenergy Secretariat and stakeholders in their home country. This new project was a follow up of 9 earlier EVS projects. - We wanted to intensify our contacts with British stakeholders. The British renewable electricity market works different from the market in most of the other European countries. But there is a pressure for harmonization, e.g. via international standards as Greenhouse Gas Protocol. - English is the "ingua franca" within the EKOenergy network. The original version of most of our documents is in English. A native English speaker helped us to improve (correct) our main texts. Besides, the volunteer got opportunities to participate in other activities of the Finnish Association of Nature Conservation in order to get opportunities to differentiate the experiences and to get to know different (young) people.
