EKOenergy is a network of European NGOs willing to promote the consumption and production of renewable electricity.
EKOenergy is also an ecolabel for electricity supplied to consumers (households, corporate consumers, others). EKOenergy is the only electricity label that results from a pan-European consultation process, which works on the whole European market and is recognized by stakeholders in all European countries.
Last year, we have made big steps forward (See www.ekoenergy.org > annual report 2013). However, we welcome new ideas and initiatives to further improve our communication. We particularly need tools to communicate in a simple way with our main target group: the electricity consumers.
This project is a follow up of 6 earlier EVS projects. While continuing to work on the countries where we have been active in 2013 and the first half of 2014, we also want to exand our scope to the Balkans. We have member organizations in Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia and Greece, and want to develop more interaction with all of them. We are also interested in tightening the links with some Serbian contacts we have.
We expect that we will also spend time on communicating about the new Greenhouse Gas Protocol Scope 2 standard (carbon accounting for purchased electricity) which is expected to be published in October 2014. This is particularly relevant for many of the corporate consumers with whom we are in contact.
Besides, the volunteer will get opportunities to participate in other activities of the Finnish Association of Nature Conservation in order to get opportunities to differentiate the experiences and to get to know different (young) people.
The volunteers are embedded in the EKOenergy team (which is a part of the Environment Protection Department of the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation).
