In our project „A strong team in Europe” 48 youngsters (24 from Sweden and 24 from Germany) and their Leaders used the chance to get to know another European country, to gain intercultural experiences and to develop deeper understanding for the youngsters and families in the other country. The Swedish youngsters came from Akersberga, a small city near to Stockholm, which is nearly as big as Verl. During the time from 20.03.2015 until 27.03.2015 the German and Swedish youngsters at the age of 14 to 16 years took part in a project which treated the topics Europe and sports/health. Furthermore, they participated in a social program in order to make them familiar with the Westphalian surrounding, they were living in. The aim of the project was to strengthen the youngsters’ key competences tolerance, capacity for teamwork, self-respect, individual responsibility. The project arised their awareness of a big and united Europe and strengthens solidarity between youngsters in the EU. Furthermore, by participating in the project, the youngsters wided their ability to communicate in English, a foreign language, and their employability was extended. The program was guided by 4 teamers (2 from Sweden, 2 from Germany). They also wided their intercultural competences. They expanded their understanding of connections and influences between formal and informal education as a preparation for the employability on the labour market. The participating organizations were empowered by this mobility project, to work in the European and international dimension. They spread their gained know-how to experts. The Swedish and German participants designed the development of the project work to the topic “A strong team in Europe. They developed their individual focus in the topic of teambuilding/sports and then they worked in small groups. E.g. they developed group dynamic learning methods – guided by their teamers. Altogether, the project was prepared intensively together with the youngsters in order to work according to the needs. By the active participation, the German and Swedish youngsters could and should insert their abilities and competences and designed the project towards their interests. The youngsters worked intensively about the possibilities which the EU offers for young people and citizens and which practical effects EU has on their everyday life and their social surrounding in family, school, leisure time and work. During the encounter the youngsters participated actively. They presented the project outcomes at the end to the public. The Swedish youngsters were hosted in German families. There they used the possibility to reflect what they experienced, they had personal talks and insights and to experience the German everyday life. They were directly integrated into the local social network. The youngsters were enabled to use the personal and intercultural skills and competences which they gained during this project, in their social surrounding. They will promote the idea of intercultural exchange within Europe and will be multiplicators in their home countries. They can use the experiences of the project for a better occupational career. The project was made visible by the final presentation, an exhibition in Droste-Haus (where daily come 500 participants and visitors), by the publication in local newspapers and press. Furthermore, it takes effect by the networking to other educational institutions, e.g. family center, youth education center or local schools. Moreover the experiences and know-how of this project were spread and multiplicated to other players and stakeholders in the international juvenile labor.
