Our project "Efficient Student Development Through International Placement - ESDTIP” has been prepared to aid the implementation of the pedagogical concept of Hiiumaa Vocational School: The main objective of our school is to support and enhance the knowledge, skills, attitudes, competences and social maturity of our students in their working lives and in their community engagement. The main task of our school is to create suitable emotional, social and material environment for this to happen.This project aims at supporting the main tasks of Hiiumaa Vocational School:- to provide efficient development boost for all learners;- to provide a training environment suitable for learner development;- to be a reliable and mutually beneficial partner for employers. Project objectives by topics: 1. Quality of vocational education and training (VET)- Diversifying content of placement training- Deeper engagement between vocational education and working life;- Improved alumni inclusion in school development; - Practising outcome-based assessment methods during international mobility;- Increasing mobility of VET students;- Making vocational education and training more attractive.2. Learner development by:- supporting learners in obtaining knowledge, skills and attitudes for professional and personal development, social maturity for work, participation in community life, and life-long learning, and better competitiveness at labour market.- enabling learners to test their knowledge and skills in another European country;- improving students' foreign language skills by practising professional use in real language environment.3. International cooperation by:- maintaining and developing cooperation with UK, Norwegian, Dutch and Swedish partner organisations in building, gardening and logistics areas of specialisation.- exchanging expertise in building, gardening and logistics areas of specialisation. The project is aimed at students and recent alumni of Hiiumaa Vocational School as follows: 1. Restorer of wood and stone buildings (further studies for high school graduates): year 1 and 2 students and recent alumni. 2. Landscape gardener (further studies for high school graduates), year 1, 2 and 3 students and recent alumni3. Junior landscape gardener (educational requirements not specified) year 1 students and recent alumni4. Florist (further studies for secondary school graduates) year 1 students and recent alumni5. Small craft harbour specialists (further studies for high school graduates), year 1 students and recent alumniSelection of participants and specialities includes as many students and recent alumni of Hiiumaa Vocational School as possible on basis of providing equal opportunities for professional development during or immediately after studies. The following mobilities take place in between June 2016 to July 2017: - 8 students or recent alumni of small craft harbour specialists placed at Karlskrona and Ronneby harbours (Sweden) in July 2016 and June 2017- 8 students or recent alumni of restorers of wood and stone buildings placed at Hå Gamle Prestegard (Norway) in August 2016 and April 2017- 8 students or recent alumni of restorers of wood and stone buildings placed at Great Yarmouth Preservation Trust (the U.K.), including one-week placement at Great Yarmouth College in September 2016 and May 2017- 2 students or recent alumni of florists placed at Middelburgh (the Netherlands)- 6 students or recent alumni of landscape gardeners or junior landscape gardeners placed at Great Yarmouth Preservation Trust (the U.K.)Having participated in this project, our students will have gained both professional and personal competencies as follows:- enhanced professional skills, - knowledge and experience of different work culture,- knowledge and experience of different cultures, - enhanced foreign language skills,- enhanced motivation and better opportunities at the labour market.Having performed this project, Hiiumaa Vocational School will have:- strengthened the ties between VET and labour market; - promoted VET as such and more specifically at Hiiumaa Vocational School, thus attracting students from all over Estonia;- improved cooperation between stakeholders: the school, employers and alumni. Host organisations in this mobility project are eager and willing to share their outstanding expertise with our Estonian VET students: Norwegian and British partners share their traditional restoration methods of preserving and maintaining heritage buildings and sites; Swedish partner shares sustainable management of small craft harbours; and Dutch partner shares their practice of close collaboration between VET and labour market. This project is a continuation of our successful international cooperation with our trusted long-term partners.
