The project is called “From Success at School to Success in Life”. Hence the main aim of it is to provide appropriate learning environments in order to equip students with knowledge and 21st Century Skills for future career, personal growth, wellbeing and active participation in social life through innovative student centered pedagogical approaches (Process Drama method, new ICT opportunities in class, CLIL, outdoor education), contextualizing learning in reference to real life situations and making curriculum content more practical.
Also, the project is aimed at development and improvementation of professional competences of our staff in terms of communication, problem solving, conflict resolution, project planning and management, sense of initiative and language competences. The participation in the project will broaden our staff's understanding in practices and systems in education across different European countries in order to improve methods and practices in daily teaching and learning as well as in extracurricular and project work.
Moreover, the project is targeted at the development of the intercultural competence and awareness of the EU values of our staff and learners.
The project is prepared by a group of school teachers. The core group is teachers of English Olga Lutška, Jevgenija Sizova, Deniss Tšertov and a teacher of German Jelena Suhhotina. There are also trainings for several other members of the school team planned, because improvement of their qualification is necessary for the school development: school principal, head of studies, coordinator of SEN students support and a teacher of French. These specialists contribute to the project development at the realisation stage.
There are totally 8 school employees taking part in the trainings abroad:
Training "Teacher Training Course on Drama in Education – Holistic Approach to Teaching with Drama Techniques", Croatia (participants Olga Lutška and Jevgenia Sizova)
"ICT in Education", Czech Republic (participant Deniss Tšertov)
"Tap-Swipe-Pinch", Spain (school principal Anna Zubova and head of studies Natalja Nikanorova)
"Outdoor Environmental Education – Experiential Approach to Learning", Scotland (SEN-students support coordinator Julia Issajeva)
"CLIL – Practical Methodology for teachers working with CLIL", Malta (teacher of French Diana Šanina)
"Interacting in Berlin", Germany (teacher of German Jelena Suhhotina)
Project objectives:
- implementation of innovative methods in order to support development of students copetences for independent life, work, self-development and active participation in the society;
- acquiring theoretical knowledge and practical skills for using modern methods and approaches at lessons and in extra-curricular activities;
- support of developing in students problem-solving skills, various social roles, conflict management, independent critical thinking;
- creation of safe and friendly environment at school;
- development of teachers' and students' intercultural competence (internationalisation of the school activities);
- promotion of new methods among teachers of the town of Narva;
- development of potential for international cooperation and creation of the platform for taking part in future initiatives and strategic partnerships;
- sharing of experience, ideas and materials with colleagues from other EU countries through use of ITC applications at lessons;
- analysis of necessity to purchase tablet computers for the school work;
- developement of Student-centred teaching.
The final activity of the project will be “Learning Lab 2020” for our local teachers to promote new method and opportunities in terms of the realization of the aims of «Europe 2020», National Reform Programme “ESTONIA 2020”, Lifelong Learning Strategies 2020 and 21st Century Skills Programme.
