The implemented project "Education closer to the nature"- teachers' mobility in the context of professional expertise development- was aimed at the teachers of School Complex for Students with Special Educational Needs nr 14 in Cracow. It covered their needs in the range of their professional skills development.
Six teachers of the vocational subjects ( gardening, hotel trade, gastronomy) in Vocational School no 31 in Cracow were the target audience. The teachers were chosen according to the requirements of the school. Each of them is qualified to teach either vocational or comprehensive subjects.
The place of the visit was the vocational school for the mentally disabled students in Chroustovice in The Czech Republic . The students with special educational needs acquired there the experience in professions like chef, confectioner, gardener and florist.
The time of the mobility was included in five days on basis of content programme. As a part of the programme students participated in training, workshops, observations of the classes taught by the Czech teachers, were meeting with an employer who allowed students to practice their job and were leading a discussion. Students spent one day in Prague. The aims of this visit were to gain the knowledge about the local cuisine curiosities in the museum of gastronomy as part of the cultural diversity in the Czech Republic and the arrangement of green belts in the botanic garden.
The main aim of the project was to enable students to develop their qualifications and competences according to their vocational subjects. The specific aims were: to improve and extend educational programme for the students with special educational needs, to acquire new teaching methods in gardener, confectioner, chef and room service assistant professions, to promote the concept of teachers' mobility, to increase the cooperation between the teachers of vocational schools in the Czech Republic and Poland, to get the knowledge about Czech culture.
As a result of mobility teachers' professional skills have been increased and creation the project of green belt around the school titled "Green Room" has been held. Moreover , the students from our school received additional qualifications allowing them to find a job ( for instance in Czech restaurants in Cracow) which will have positive effect on their independence and social integration. Additionally the increase of the educational level will prevent students' early school leave and will reduce their educational underachievement.
The long-term additional benefits of the project is connected with the "Green Room" project. It will enable our primary, secondary school and moderately impaired students to learn science in the natural environment. Moreover the lessons held there will be more attractive and effective. The "green room" project will be also a great place for our gardening and hotel trade students to practice their skills and will provide the ingredients for our gastronomy students. Moreover, the project will cause the cooperation between students from different courses and peer groups. It will also has a positive influence on their social connections, self-confidence and make them feel important. The "Green Room" project will also cause a better cooperation and experience exchange between teachers. The implement of the project will strengthen the cooperation between teachers from our school and those from Chroustovice, which may cause the another projects- strategic partnership in the future. Our cooperation will influent the European dimension of both schools.
Cerfticates and Europass-CV for every participant of the project- will present the main measure of the effectiveness.
The great success and effect of this project was participating in competition organized by C.K.Norwid Culture Center and Urban District Council nr XVIII. In May our students participated in the competition named "The gardens of Nowa Huta" which they won. The first prize enabled buying seeds, plants, herbs and equipment for gardening. Cooperation and participation in the project integrated local society. We would like to mention that in the project by mistake was selected VET-TAA as type of operation instead of VET-STA: Training activities for the personnel/job shadowing which was implemented.
