Educational Approaches for Special Education - E.A.S.E.
Start date: Oct 1, 2016, End date: Sep 30, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

Special Education plays an important role in supporting children with special needs and, consequently, in the future, their integration into society. The effectiveness of teaching methods in special education schools is vital for the student's future. The professional development and the improvement of the quality of adult learning staff have been recognized as a priority at European level. As noted in the European Commission’s communication ‘Rethinking Education’ (2012), the reform of education and training systems is essential to achieving higher productivity and the supply of highly skilled trainers.Meeting the challenges in the learning process of people with "special needs" refers mainly to the implementation of new innovative tools as a tool for learning and social integration while enriching the timetable and general curriculum. The objective of the E.A.S.E. school mobility project is the provision of professional learning opportunities to our school trainers so that they will develop generic competencies concerning the approaches of innovative teaching methods in "special education".To achieve these objectives, our institution, will recruit 20 trainers that will participate in a six-day training program in Germany, using transnationalism as a tool for the expansion of educational knowledge. Trainers during their international placements are expected to improve their Competences among others in how to use new innovative methods and techniques of teaching students with special needs, how to team the students and use techniques of empowerment and relationships management. The E.A.S.E. program is expected to have a direct impact on trainers participating in the mobilities however, it is expected to be filtered to other trainers of both our school as well as schools of special needs of Crete region. After the end of the transnational placement, participants will attend a specialized regional workshop, which will be implemented by the Secondary Education of Rethymno to transfer their experiences in the context of the "European Development Plan" for more effective implementation of the exploitation strategy of tools, techniques and methods identified in education.
