NAME OF THE PROJECT: ECOPOLISThe project involves 4 European volunteers (one Spanish, one Portuguese, one French and one Polish) who begin their Italian stay from the month of September 2016 for 11 months long.The project is going to take place in Macerata (Marche- Italy) and the volunteers will be hosted in an historic village, inside the city, made of houses in clay bricks, a unique example of traditional rustic building depending on the architectural authority of the region Marche. In this village the association Gruca runs a guest house and a ecomuseum.The aims of the project are, in one hand the development of the identity of the European volunteer in the context of the town of Macerata in order to create an exchange of different cultures, and in the other hand the promotion of the village Villa Ficana as a symbol of tradition and eco-friendly architecture.The volunteers will be involved in:-activities in the classroom of the Ecomuseum of Ficana which have as target group disabled people or children (laboratories, games, object construction with second hand materials…)-supporting the members of the association to organize events to promote the historic village-preparation of environmental lessons to teach at the school Giacomo Leopardi of Macerata, in English, French and Spanish language.-Management of a biological vegetable garden in the town park Sasso d’Italia, they will go to the garden daily to run the main duties and they will organize sowing time Fest and they will witness everything by publicizing each different phase on the web.- During the final phase of their stay in Macerata each volunteer will have the opportunity to develop his own personal activity. Once learned the language, they will contribute to the association by adding to the activities their own ideas, creativity and experience.Every single work and duty is involved in a no-profit dimension. All the activities are in the interest of the inhabitants of Villa Ficana, place where the volunteers will live. The context will be non formal and multicultural. The volunteers will be able to learn the principles of a no profit association, active citizenship, eco-friendly methods and process and finally environmental awareness.The four volunteers will be supported by the members of the association during their entire stay.
