EcoBoom: Youth participation for making tomorrow better and greener
Start date: Jun 1, 2010,

Young people throughout Europe are not aware of many possibilities they have to express themselves and that they have the capabilities to give something valuable to the society. This lack of awareness, combined with the lack of motivation and self-confidence can be a big problem when they first search for a job. One of the aims of this 10-day youth exchange in Celje, Slovenia, is to provide our participants who will soon find themselves in such situation the tools to look for a job more efficiently, to write a good CV, to be successful at the job interview... But what is even more important, we will also show them that there are numerous other ways to be active in the society even while being unemployed (informal education, student internships, voluntary work in local community EVS...) and give them the self-confidence needed to take an active role in the society to something of benefit for themselves and for the European society.Obviously, we want to merge this topic of active youth participation and informal education with the increasingly important topic of sustainability and environmental awareness. 24 youngsters and 8youth leaders, aged mostly 18-25 and coming from Italy, Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovenia will share best environmental practices from their communities and, inspired by interactive activities throughout the youth exchange, develop good ideas for organising youth initiatives in each of participating countries in the future which is one of the ultimate goals of this youth exchange.Hopefully, our youth exchange, titled EcoBoom, will indeed become a big blast of fresh, "green" ideas which will soon be implemented.
