Ecotourism is like education for the participants who implement an eco-friendly lifestyle, while preserving and protecting the national regions all over the world. Students from rural tourism in our high school are studying a subject called Alternative forms of tourism with 72 lessons per year, 2 per week. It is a subject where all type of tourism is mentioned, but as important thing for the world, there are many classes dedicated to eco-tourism.
Eco tourism is a relatively new and young discipline, alternative form of tourism, which implementation and development will be intensive in the future. The students in the school need to be educated theoretical and practical from more developed European partner high school, with more experience and more successes in the field of eco-tourism. Macedonia has so many opportunities to develop this type of tourism, but the promoters of eco-tourism here, need someone who is already successful, with more experience to share it.
Novo Mesto was an ideal place for achieving our goal. There is connection between this two partner school, which is useful for both, Macedonian and Slovenian high school.
The group of students from the High School who were attend the practical vocational training in Slovenia was comprised of 24 students of the tourism and hospitality vocational education, with paying more attention to rural and eco-tourism. The mobility took place in Novo Mesto, 2 weeks in the high school GRM.
The knowledge and experience students are acquiring and sharing with other students in the school and in other tourist-catering schools.
• First they had sessions with their friends from the school in order to share what they learned and saw. The sessions took place in rural area of Poreche where they were able to show what they learned.
• Two eco-tourism tourist products were developed involving students who were trained in Slovenia.
• The project and the project results were also shared with other students and teachers that were attending the workshop held in the Naum Ohridski School.
• The project was also developing a Guidebook for Eco Tourism Product Development that was disseminating in other secondary vocational schools. It is available on Macedonian language as well as on the official page of the school at the social media called Facebook.
Makedonski Brod and the region of Poreche have significant potential for development of the eco-tourism. The region is located in the central Macedonian close to Skopje and many tourists can visit the region on daily basis. Its potential can be valorized in combination with the other form of rural, alternative tourism and can be a good base for faster economic development of the region and reduction of the unemployment.
The cooperation with the Center for vocational education and training will enable accomplishment of long-term objectives because efforts was put into integrating ecotourism in the educational programs of certain school subjects.
