PROJECT
FINISHED
The "ECO-nomics" project stems from the initiative of young people interested in researching the interdependencies between an eco life style and the state of the household budget. Even the roots of both words - "ecology" and "economy" - seem to be connected. Both of them come form the Greek word "eco" which means "house". Our main goal in this project was to identify the behaviour that can help to protect our common home - the environment - and at the same time allow us to better manage our household resources. During the activities of this project we wanted to find the answers to the following questions:
- What and how important is the influence of being "eco" for the state of the home financials?
- Which of the possible actions can have most significant financial effects?
- What is the cost (i. e. time, organisation etc.) of keeping in line with the rules of ecology and protecting the environment for the particular household or person?
- Is it possible to decrease the cost of an eco life style and increase the connected income?
In order to find answers for the above questions we organized a youth exchange involving two groups of young people - 20 people from Poland and the same number of participants from Lithuania. This activity took place in Murzasichle and Międzybrodzie Żywieckie and lasted for 7 days during which we jointly executed our investigative process in hope to find real world results that we than were able to share with a wider audience. The effects of our actions were presented on leaflets and presentations. We hope, that the information that they contain will help to implement a change in behaviour in both the participants and our local communities. We believe that by showing the benefits of an "eco" life style to the household budget we will promote the protection of the natural environment.
