Eco-art
Start date: May 1, 2016, End date: Nov 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project is a training course for youth workers and active young people interested in promotion of sustainable environmentally friendly lifestyle and active problem solving in their local communities through the means of art. This topic comes from the work of our organisation Brontosaurus movement and the need expressed by our partners with whom we had cooperated on previous projects. The project includes partner countries outside EU as there the issue of promoting recycling, upcycling and waste management is very actual, especially making it in a fun and creative way, attractive for young people. Within this training we will provide interactive lectures and discussions on environmental issues (waste management, sustainable design, sustainable development) and workshops on art techniques to address these issues and give them more public awareness. We will use recycling materials and upcycling techniques to make the topic of environmental protection more visible and interesting for public. The training course will be carried out by experienced trainers and experts with the methods of non-formal education, art, outdoor education and deep ecology. During the training the participants will create an art-object and exhibit it in a public place in Brno, thus attracting attention of urban citizens to environmental issues. As a result of the training the participants will also create a brochure, translated into several languages, with the best techniques and spread it in their countries and partner organizations. We would like to add to the issue of art and recycling also the international spirit and enable young people to get more informed about system and level of the environment protection and sustainable development in other countries, both in EU and outside EU. It will be in the form of exchange of experience and methodological approaches, the participants will be encouraged to form new partnerships and cooperate for further joint projects. As a result of the project youth workers and active young people will share the knowledge of modern environmental issues; skills to address them and raise public awareness on them through the means of art; and cautious attitude to nature. The participants will be encouraged to develop their own project ideas to contribute to sustainable development, environmentally friendly lifestyle and social entrepreneurship in their local communities. This project involves 25 participants from 6 different countries and will be implemented in June 2015 in Czech Republic in Brno.
