Echoes from the Valley
Start date: Mar 1, 2016, End date: Nov 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

“Echoes from the Valley” is a Youth Exchange promoted by Arci La Quercia Association of Cinisello Balsamo (MI) in collaboration with the Drums For Peace network. It will take place from 23th to 20th of July 2016 in Chiavenna (SO) and it will involve 40 youth 16 to 20year-old coming from Estonia, Poland, Romania, Italy (8 pt+2gl for each group). The main topic will be legends and myths of Chiavenna Valley. This theme allows to create a specific and common setting for the participants, sharing a symbolic space, helping to integrate everybody in a “fantasy” background. The folktales will be a vehicle to intercultural communication and social inclusion. It will give to everybody the opportunity to express themselves, telling about their own origin playfully, joining reality and fantasy, as legends want.As in the work methodology of Drums For Peace network, the main instrument will be performance arts. The participants will take part at four workshops (movement-theatre, visual art, circus and drums), run by Italian and international teachers: they will get express each kid, removing linguistic and cultural barriers among the participants, building a common and shared language that could be fit for everyone, open and flexible to everyone’s abilities. In addiction, an art performance will take place at the end of the week, summarising what will be done during the workshops. The performance will be acted in Pertini Cultural Centre of Cinisello Balsamo, and a second time in Chiavenna, gifting to the hosting community the legends of their own Valley, revisited in a dynamic and international view.It will be useful, on the one hand, to show the results achieved by the participants to the local community, and, on the other hand, to set a shared goal that encourage and led to collaborative and virtuous behaviours.
