The project intends to develop a minimum European professional standard for career guidance counsellors and to develop and test a common accreditation scheme for European career guidance counsellors. In most European countries the qualification of career guidance practitioners are mainly based on informal and not formal learning and are not formally recognised. The key reason for the project is to define and promote a minimum professional standard for the European career guidance counsellors, and to develop a procedure for recognising it that can be easily used by different organisations in different European countries. The project will help to promote job mobility across countries and provide confidence to employees and users of career services that the practitioners have appropriate competencies, regardless of how and where they completed their specialised career development training.
